It’s been a hard couple of years in Vincy. Even before COVID, unemployment was rising and more businesses were forced to close as a result of the mismanagement of the Gonsalves Government.
Now, we’ve had COVID and hundreds more businesses have closed and thousands more are unemployed. To add insult to injury, La Soufriere has damaged countless homes, destroyed livelihoods and shocked the whole Caribbean.
You would hope that this would mean that the Gonsalves Government would alleviate the pressure these people are suffering through. But that’s not how they work.
Just when things couldn’t get any worse, Camillo and his pals have moved again to increase the costs that all of us have to pay.
Here are the increased costs you now have to pay:
- Higher import tax
- Higher petrol prices
- Increased passport costs
- Higher cooking gas costs
Within the space of days, Camillo and Ralph have made almost everything in your life that much harder.
Think about a simple example like going down to buy meat from the shops. Firstly, it is likely to be more expensive just to buy the meat because La Soufriere has limited our agricultural and farmed goods, making us more dependent on imported goods. Cooking the meat becomes more expensive with the gasoline prices and even driving to get it is now more expensive with the increased petrol prices.
If you’ve just lost your job, or your home, the thought of putting food on the table is hard enough. Now Camillo and Ralph have made it even harder.
They don’t care about the vulnerable or the people they are supposed to represent, they only care about themselves and their own jobs.
This is not the time for Camillo and Ralph to pile more pressure on us. Tell your ULP friends, now is not the time!
