WHY HASN’T CAMILLO RELEASED UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES? - ULP Broken Promises

WHY HASN’T CAMILLO RELEASED UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES?

Camillo Gonsalves has been hiding unemployment figures in St Vincent and the Grenadines for over 17 months as he continues to avoid the financial struggles he has brought upon our country.

In June 2020 Camillo estimated that unemployment had risen 10 percentage points in the prior three months. However, with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and the lack of leadership from the Gonsalves Government, hundreds of companies have been forced to close down – adding to the number of people who find themselves without a job.

Since being re-elected last year, during a time where people were finding it hard enough to get a job, the Gonsalves Government has failed to act on tackling this crisis, instead focusing on lining their own pockets and making the people pay for the government’s mistakes.

This year alone, gas prices have increase seven times to a high of $14.17 at the end of October. Furthermore customs rates have also increased while people are joining the increasing queues to collect poor relief money, a sign that our lives are becoming more expensive and the cost of living is becoming too much.

Under Camillo’s watch, 420 businesses have been forced to close their doors as a result of the increased cost in doing business and the lack of leadership from our government, which has resulted in 2,754 more people losing their jobs.

Camillo is doing his best to hide unemployment figures from us but for the average person on the street, it is clear to see the economic crisis the Gonsalves Government has led us to is not getting any better.

It’s time we now got rid ah dem, they can no longer claim to be the party of the working people because it’s the working people who are hurt the most by their policies.
